La vie c'est aoui (2001/2) Samba Fall 111.5 x 110.5 cm (incl. frame) Mixed media. Paint, charcoal and collage on canvas. Covered with labels, corrugated cardboard and matchboxes. Basalt stone frame. The work of the multidisciplinary Senegalese artist Samba Fall (Dakar, 1977) combines multiple materials. Fall covers his canvases with large and small pieces of paper, printed notes and labels and small objects, which he then paints over. This special form of painted collage creates depth in the work, partly because the printing of the labels remains (partially) readable. The work 'La vie c'est aoui' contains, in addition to painted over notes, pieces of corrugated cardboard, strips of paper and a matchbox. The work consists of 9 canvases measuring 30 x 30 cm, which are framed one above the other in a massive frame of basalt stone. This work is from the same series as the work 'Fantaisie de voyage' - which is also for sale.This work has minor damage: one of the matchboxes is slightly dented.
