Rare Complete 4-Piece Royal Dux Design Set
'Brussels Style'
An extremely rare and complete 4-piece porcelain design set (1 rooster and 3 hens), for the world-famous porcelain factory Royal Dux (Duchcov).
This modernist-styled bird group dates from the early 1960s and perfectly embodies the iconic 'Brussels Style'—the avant-garde design movement that broke through internationally following the great success of the Czechoslovakian pavilion at the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels (Expo 58).
Material, Execution & Unique Color Variant
* Exclusive execution: Crafted from high-quality, through-and-through colored matte biscuit porcelain (unglazed).
* Rarity: Whereas most bird designs in this series were produced at the time in traditional glossy white or cobalt blue glaze, this is a highly rare, monochrome color variant. * Finish: The bodies feature a refined, matte chocolate to anthracite grey shade with a velvety texture.
* Contrast: The characteristic combs and wattles are finished in a deep, jet-black matte shade for a powerful, graphic, and minimalist contrast.
Dimensions & Details
* 1x Rooster (Model 800/A):
* Height: 15 cm | Length: 14 cm | Weight: 140 grams
* Stamped in wet clay with the early factory marking 800/A (where 'A' indicates this specific size version). As is common with early batches within this series, the rooster does not feature a name stamp.
* 3x Hen (Model 800):
* Height: 7 cm | Length: 10 cm | Weight: 65 grams each
* All three bear the pressed model number 800 on the underside. * Authenticity: The original designer's signature is still authentically present on the flank of the hens (inherently slightly faded due to the early pressing of the mold).
Condition
* The larger rooster and two of the hens are in absolute top condition / like new (completely free of chips, breaks, or scratches).
* The third hen has a stable, old hairline crack/break in the tail section (see detail photos). This is explicitly included to maintain the historical and visual integrity of this complete 4-piece design family.
A high-quality and museum-worthy collector's item for enthusiasts of Mid-Century Modern, Czech porcelain design, and iconic European design heritage.
