Beautiful vintage sideboard from the Propos series, produced by Hulmefa in the 1960s. The Propos series is characterized by an understated design in which material, proportion, and functionality take center stage. A design that demonstrates the strong development of Dutch modernism during this period. The sideboard has been fully restored with respect for the original design and preservation of the characteristic patina. The rosewood veneer has been refinished with a protective satin-matte finish, bringing out the deep color and impressive grain prominently once again. The interior has also been carefully cleaned and is in neat condition. In addition to its external features, the sideboard was clearly designed with functionality as the starting point. The three wide drawers offer ample space for smaller items, while behind the three doors are generous storage compartments with an adjustable shelf. Furthermore, the cable pass-through in the back panel makes the piece of furniture highly suitable as a TV unit or for discreetly concealing audio equipment. Characteristic of the Propos series is its clean lines. No superfluous details, but a clear composition in which the rich rosewood veneer plays the leading role. The slender metal handles and the sleek base form subtle accents that reinforce the clean lines without distracting from the beautiful wood. A rare Dutch sideboard that shows how powerful simplicity can be.
