Friso Kramer (1922–2019) was a Dutch industrial designer who served as director of the design agency Ahrend from 1971 to 1983. Kramer strived for product design that could function in complete harmony with people and their environment. The user should be able to forget the presence of the product. He himself said about this: ‘If form does not contribute to function, it has no right to exist.’ His designs were unobtrusive and, above all, user-friendly. ‘Less is more’ and ‘form follows function’ were therefore characteristic of his designs. The Revolt chair represented a breakthrough for Friso Kramer in the field of design.
