Elegant Restoration period (circa 1820–1830) walnut veneer side table, typical of the refined furniture of the first half of the 19th century.
■ Structure and style:
Restoration period curved X-shaped legs, typical of the Empire/Restoration style, connected by a turned crossbar in the center. This shape gives the piece a stable yet graceful appearance.
■ Materials:
The piece is crafted from walnut veneer, contrasting with a lighter wood section on the drawer.
■ Function and layout:
Under the top table is a hinged drop-leaf door with an interior mirror, held by a brass chain. The interior is divided into several compartments, designed to store toiletries, jewelry, or small personal items.
A lower drawer with a round brass knob completes the set for additional storage.
■ Finishes:
The brass hardware (hinges and chain) adds a refined touch. The wax brings out the warmth of the wood and the depth of the grain.
