We offer a completely original and unique piece of craftsmanship, design, and history. Attributed to Wim Den Boon, he almost certainly designed this piece in the late 1940s (probably 1948), and production possibly continued into the 1950s. During this time, he was affiliated with the Attrib group, whose colleagues included Pierre Kleykamp. The Attrib group drew inspiration from Scandinavian and Dutch (interior) designers. Gerrit Rietveld was one of his sources of inspiration. The frame is likely birch with two black lacquered/painted inserts (0.5 cm thick) and a sturdy ribbed glass (inlay) top. The underside is matte black glass with some signs of wear. We consider this side the most beautiful and full of character. Additional dimensions (always approximate): Glass top thickness +/- 0.7 cm, wooden inserts 0.5-6 cm). Space between inserts: 10.4 cm top, 14.4 cm bottom. Interior glass panel width: 57 cm, black panels +/- 57.6 cm. All photos show how the furniture is assembled and how all panels/shelves are extended and retracted.
Minor signs of wear from use (spots, scratches, etc.). Everything is break-free, and the furniture has been lightly oiled to enhance the wood's color and flexibility. This also allows the planks and panels to move smoothly. The glass top is ribbed and has some marks. The bottom is frosted glass with some signs of wear/scratches.
