An exceptional sculptural design object combining wood and metal, distinguished by its striking architectural presence and transformable construction. The sculpture consists of 22 individually rotating and adjustable wooden discs stacked above a larger circular base. Each level can be positioned independently, allowing the object to take on an almost endless variety of forms – from a compact, straight column to dynamic asymmetrical compositions or an impressive spiral sculpture. The combination of expressive wood grain, metallic elements and its substantial construction gives the piece a distinctive postmodern, architectural and subtly brutalist character. More than a decorative object, it is a true statement piece that can be continually reconfigured and rediscovered. Depending on its arrangement and surroundings, it can appear almost architectural, organic or kinetic. Provenance. According to the previous owner, the sculpture was formerly part of the interior of an exclusive salon at Savignyplatz in Berlin, where it was displayed as a prominent design object. Further documentation regarding its provenance is unfortunately not available. Despite extensive research, I have not been able to identify another comparable example. The designer and manufacturer remain unknown, making this an exceptionally rare piece and potentially a unique work. Dimensions. Height: approx. 87 cm. Base diameter: approx. 55 cm. Diameter of each wooden disc: approx. 34 cm. Thickness of each disc: approx. 3.5 cm. Number of rotating discs: 22. Total number of discs including base: 23. Weight: approx. 70 kg. Condition. The sculpture has been carefully cleaned and prepared for its next home. It is in good vintage condition with age- and use-related traces that are consistent with its character and history. An exceptional object for a sophisticated living space, entrance or reception area, gallery, showroom, office, hotel or other architectural interior. Located in Berlin, Germany.
