Rare Model 119 “Columbus” Lounge Chair by Hartmut Lohmeyer for Artifort, 1950s the Netherlands. This exceptional lounge chair is a rare variant of the Model 118 “Columbus”, designed by Hartmut Lohmeyer. Unlike the more commonly seen wooden base versions, this piece features a black laquered metal frame, giving it a modernist and architectural presence. The chair has been professionally reupholstered at one point in the premium Hallingdal fabric by Kvadrat, one of the most iconic textiles in modern design, originally created by Nanna Ditzel. The tactile wool-blend fabric enhances the chair’s timeless form while ensuring durability and comfort. Marked with the Artifort logo. In very good vintage condition.
