This exceptional ceramic wall plate is a beautiful example of the creative synergy between the renowned Italian artist Elio Schiavon (1925-2004) and the artist Gunter Erhart.
These objects were produced for the prestigious SKK studio (Südtiroler Kunstkeramik) and have since become highly sought-after collector's items.
About the design:
Schiavon and Erhart worked closely together: while Schiavon excelled in shaping the clay, they both provided the expressive, hand-painted decorations that are so characteristic of their collaborative work. The plate displays a lively, modernist design with a rich color palette and deep, glossy glaze featuring beautiful, authentic craquelé. The reverse features the original signatures of both masters and the studio symbol.
Condition & Authentic details:
The plate is in excellent vintage condition. Upon close inspection, superficial imperfections in the glaze are visible at two small points (see detail photos). It is important to emphasize that these are not damages or flakes (chips), but characteristic firing imperfections specific to this artisanal production process in the 1960s. This actually underscores the unique, handmade character of this museum-worthy piece.
