Complete 1960s design seating area: 4 Bovenkamp armchairs model 72 with Danish Møbelintarsia table
A particularly complete vintage seating ensemble from the sixties, consisting of four identical lounge armchairs by Van den Bovenkamp, Hilversum, and a round Danish coffee table by Møbelintarsia.
The five pieces of furniture were purchased together at the time and have always been used as a single seating area. Although the table was made by a different manufacturer, it emphatically belongs to this ensemble in terms of period, purchase history, and Scandinavian design.
The Four Bovenkamp Armchairs
The Bovenkamp factory mark and the stamped number 72, likely the model number, are located on the underside of all armchairs.
It concerns a relatively rare, low, and virtually cube-shaped model with:
Dark hardwood frame;
Dark green leather upholstery;
Loose seat and back cushions;
Leather-covered armrests;
Spring-loaded internal construction;
Characteristic Dutch-Scandinavian design.
The design is attributed to Aksel Bender Madsen, from the furniture line that Bovenkamp produced in the Netherlands under license from Madsen & Schubell. The manufacturer and the number 72 are marked; the designer attribution is based on documented comparable examples.
Exceptionally Good Condition
The armchairs have always served as extra, third seating and have therefore been used very little. They are in exceptionally good vintage condition.
The loose seat and back cushions are still excellent in shape and firmness. The seating comfort is also particularly good and feels virtually like new.
The hardwood frames and the wood finish are excellently preserved and have no significant damage. Only the leather on the ends of the armrests has become somewhat worn in places due to normal use. This concerns superficial wear of the leather; the underlying wood is undamaged.
There are no known structural defects.
The Møbelintarsia Table
The round Danish table is marked on the underside:

This is a Danish salon or side table from the same period, presumably featuring a rosewood veneered top. The dimensions are approximately 80 cm in diameter and 50 cm high.
The tabletop shows signs of use, particularly rings. The base is complete and stable. If desired, the top can be restored by an experienced furniture restorer.

The ensemble is sold exclusively as a whole. The four armchairs are not being split, and the table is not being sold separately.
