With a heavy heart, we are offering for sale a rare, iconic and collectible ensemble by Danish designer Poul Jensen for Selig: two Z Lounge Chairs and a Z Sofa Bed, part of the legendary Mid-Century Modern “Z” Collection.
These pieces come from the estate of our grandmother. They were hardly used over the decades and are therefore preserved in exceptional original condition – a truly rare find.
• Design: the characteristic sculptural “Z” armrests – an icon of Scandinavian Modern design and a masterpiece of 1950s–1960s mid-century furniture
• Material: solid teak wood with a warm, honey-colored tone and beautiful grain
• Upholstery: original brown corduroy (corduroy velour) fabric, excellently maintained and evenly preserved
• Function: sofa bed folds out easily – both practical and elegant, a perfect combination of form and function
• Support: original Fagas webbing, in very good condition
• Dating / Provenance: designed in 1957 (U.S. design patent 1958). This example includes an original material label marked “9.63,” confirming an early 1960s production. The set remained for decades in a private household in Northern Germany.
The furniture has never been restored or reupholstered, making it an authentic vintage original with outstanding provenance.
