Rare bentply Bambi chair designed by Han Pieck (1924 - 2010) produced by Morris & Co of Glasgow. Sold by his son- Han.
This beautiful chair was made in a very limited production of only 200. Made of layers of plywood moulded in a single sheet, with birch veneer to the one side, and sapele to the other. Han designed the chair out of one single piece, bent to form this stackable school style chair.
Han studied at the Applied Art School in Amsterdam, with Mart Stam as one of his teachers. He was Influenced by Gerald Summers designs. After WWII he went to the United Kingdom, where collaborated with Neil Morris to manufacture the Bambi chair.
The chair looks like it has been re-finished. There have been some repairs, see the photos of the legs. The front of the seat has a little mark. All in all the chair is in beautiful vintage condition and ready to be enjoyed for years more.
