Exceptional and rare Belgian Art Deco dining room from the 'PAUL' model series by De Coene Frères, Kortrijk, created around 1936. The ensemble includes a large dining table, the corresponding large dresser or Sideboard cabinet, the smaller Argentier, and six matching dining chairs. The coherence of the program is documented by a historical De Coene catalog, in which the 'Salle à manger PAUL' is explicitly listed with these types of furniture and six chairs. Particularly characteristic is the use of richly figured walnut veneer. The large, mirror-image veneer patterns on the fronts give the furniture an exceptionally decorative effect. At the same time, the architecture of the furniture remains clear and modern: rounded sides, stepped horizontal lines, and strong but reduced volumes correspond to the high-quality Belgian Art Deco production of the 1930s. The large Sideboard cabinet has a central glazed area and closed side storage areas. The smaller Argentier or secretary desk particularly impressively displays mirror-matched walnut veneer and a fold-down front with internal drawers and shelves. The table has the robust base characteristic of the model with arched supports and, like the chairs, belongs to the documented 'PAUL' program. The extensive preservation of a coherent historical dining room is rare today. Individual pieces by De Coene appear regularly on the market; complete, catalog-documented ensembles are much harder to find. The ensemble is currently in age-appropriate condition and will be professionally restored or presented before sale. Traces of age and use remain as part of the historical substance.
