Thick Natural Leather Lounge Chairs with a Slender Armless Silhouette
Introduced in 1972, Mario Bellini’s Le Bambole collection for B&B Italia redefined upholstered furniture with its soft, architectural forms that merge comfort and sculptural elegance. This rare armless version offers a sleeker, more minimal silhouette compared to the better-known armchair model, making it particularly suited for eclectic, Ibizian, or contemporary interiors.
Executed in thick, natural-grain saddle leather, these lounge chairs have developed a stunning patina over time, enhancing their presence with deep tones and tactile richness. The leather is robust, richly textured, and retains its natural character. Designed with surprising ergonomic comfort, they embody both Bellini’s design radicalism and B&B Italia’s innovation in materials.
This matching set is exceptionally rare on the secondary market, especially in original leather. Both chairs are in perfect vintage condition with only normal signs of use consistent with age. They can be used individually or fastened together with the original connecting hooks to form a 2-seater sofa.
The armless model was produced until the mid-1990s. Since then, B&B Italia has continued only with the armchair and sofa versions, making these early armless examples particularly collectible today.
