Product description
This is a set of two postmodern 'Piccolo' side tables, designed by Edward Geluk for the Dutch manufacturer Arco in the 1980s. The design is a clear example of the Memphis style, characterized by the playful use of geometric shapes and a bold color palette. The tables are made of lacquered wood and metal, with each table having a unique, inverted color combination. One table combines a black top with a red rod and base, and a black cylindrical foot. The other has a cream-colored top, a black rod, a red base, and a grey foot. This asymmetrical yet complementary aesthetic makes the set particularly dynamic. The tables are in good vintage condition, consistent with their age and use. The original lacquer has been preserved and shows a characteristic patina that contributes to their authentic appearance. The construction of both tables is solid and functional. These 'Piccolo' side tables are versatile, for example, next to a sofa, as bedside tables, or as an artistic statement in a hallway. They fit perfectly into an eclectic, modern, or 1980s-inspired interior, where they add a graphic accent both individually and together.
