Born in Tokyo in 1938, Makio Hasuike graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts (1962).
Based in Italy since 1963, he founded his own design studio in Milan in 1968, one of the first of its kind in Italy.
In 1982, he created MHWay, an experimental brand of innovative products such as bags and accessories.
This design company is still active. For over 50 years, he has collaborated with Italian and international companies, contributing to their success through innovative solutions in aesthetics and content.
The MakioHasuike&Co studio works in various fields: high-tech tools, products for work and leisure, home appliances, furniture, branding, scenography and architecture.
His projects have been awarded prestigious prizes and some are featured in permanent collections, notably at MoMA in New York.
Makio Hasuike is a member of the founding committee of the Master in Strategic Design at Politecnico di Milano.
In 2016, he received the Compasso d'Oro for his entire career.
