This spectacular oil painting on panel depicts an autumnal scene in the Pont Marie area of Paris. The bridge itself occupies the center of the composition, while the Seine River flows through the lower half, with a couple of boats navigating its waters. The river is rendered in a bluish-green hue, with visible brushstrokes suggesting the movement of the water. Furthermore, areas of deep shadow are created beneath the arches of the bridge, contrasting with the light in the background. The upper half of the painting is occupied by Parisian buildings, in front of which rises a row of trees whose brown leaves offer glimpses of the architecture.
