This plaster bust is a work by Maison Togneri, representing Christ crowned with thorns. The sculpture stands out for its expressive treatment and its origin from André Togneri's religious art workshop in Liège, a testament to the craftsmanship of Tuscan sculptors established in Wallonia. Made of plaster with a cream-colored patinated finish, this piece measures 30 centimeters in height. It dates from the period 1900-1930 and bears the signature "Togneri Liège" on the back, as well as the traditional Christogram "JHS" in relief on the pedestal. The production of the Togneri workshop is recognized for its contribution to sacred art in Belgium at the beginning of the 20th century. The general state of conservation of the sculpture is good, preserving an authentic patina that gives character to the work. This finish testifies to its age and history, while maintaining the structural and aesthetic integrity of the composition.
