This beautiful pine veneer table lamp is an authentic work by Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009), one of Sweden’s most celebrated lighting designers. Trained as a carpenter and architect, Jakobsson developed a distinctive ability to sculpt light through natural materials — creating warm, atmospheric pieces that have become icons of Scandinavian mid-century modernism.
The lamp features a shade crafted from thin strips of pine veneer, meticulously arranged to filter light in a soft, even glow. When lit, the grain and warm tones of the wood come alive, casting a calm and inviting ambience. Each shade was handmade, making every piece slightly unique in shape and tone.
The design combines elegant simplicity with material honesty — the natural beauty of the pine taking center stage against a minimal, functional base. As with many of Jakobsson’s creations, the lamp blends functional design with a poetic understanding of light and shadow.
