Dutch artist Peter Diem (1945) paints like a tornado and lives his art. Bold, fearless colors, thick, juicy paint and bold, sensual lines are the hallmark of his paintings. They reflect his zest for life, his sense of humor and his distinct individuality. The powerful paintings are thus representative exponents of his turbulent lifestyle. In his early twenties, Peter Diem left the Netherlands for the United States. He spent his days earning a living as a lithographer, but his soul was saturated with the paintings he worked on in his studio at night. Peter was, and still is, fascinated by the COBRA group (an art school that emerged from Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam), who experimented wildly. Inspired by this, color became his most important means of expression.
