This coffee table is the Petalo model by Charlotte Perriand, designed in the early 1950s and later produced by Cassina as part of the authorized re-edition. The Cassina-embossed label and Ch. Perriand signature on the underside confirm the authenticity of this edition, here with the serial number 1480.
The table is characterized by its characteristic triangular tabletop with rounded corners, reminiscent of the shape of a petal – hence the name Petalo.
The tabletop is painted in a bright yellow, which, combined with the delicate black steel frame, creates a strong graphic contrast.
The frame is made of powder-coated round steel, shaped in soft curves, supporting the tabletop almost as if it were floating. This construction principle gives the piece a remarkable lightness, while the geometric shape and color contrast clearly reflect the aesthetics of Mid-Century Modern design.
The Petalo tables were originally produced in various colors and sizes and were designed to be combined into organic groups. Perriand combined an industrial understanding of materials with playful design – an approach that characterized her collaboration with Le Corbusier and Jean Prouvé and is particularly evident in this design.
Condition: The table is in very good condition. The painted surface shows no scratches or chips. The black metal frame is stable and evenly preserved, with no rust or structural defects. Overall, an excellently maintained original piece with a Cassina stamp and collector's value.
