Beautiful vintage ‘Ruster’ model ottoman, designed by Yngve Ekström and produced by the Swedish company Swedese. In the Netherlands, this model was imported by Pastoe, who included the ottoman in their own collection. In catalogues from the 1960s, it appeared under model number ‘PT08’. This ottoman originates from Belgium and was originally part of a complete set with three (!) Ruster armchairs. Ottomans from this series are considerably rarer today than the armchairs themselves, as in many cases they have been lost or separated from the set. Upon arrival at the workshop, the ottoman was fully restored. The teak frame was carefully cleaned and re-nourished, bringing back the warm colour and characterful appearance. The interior was also completely renewed with sturdy foam. The ottoman was then reupholstered with a high-quality wool fabric in a deep navy blue, which complements the warm teak seamlessly. What stands out immediately is the simplicity and refinement of the design. The low, organic design seamlessly complements the armchairs from the Ruster series and emphasizes Yngve Ekström's calm, balanced design language. The footstool not only offers comfortable leg support but, above all, enhances the sense of relaxation evoked by the armchair. Together, they form a harmonious whole in which comfort and design are perfectly balanced. A rare and essential part of an iconic Scandinavian set, ready for a new life. Can optionally be upholstered in a different fabric.
