Beautiful vintage ‘Ruster’ model ottoman, designed by Yngve Ekström and produced by the Swedish company Swedese. In the Netherlands, this ottoman was imported via Pastoe in the 1960s and was part of a broader collection of armchairs and sofas.
This ottoman originates from Soest and was originally part of a complete set with two Ruster armchairs. Ottomans from this series are considerably rarer today than the armchairs themselves, as in many cases they have been lost or separated from the set.
Upon arrival at our workshop, the ottoman was fully restored. The teak frame was carefully cleaned and re-nourished, bringing back the warm color and characterful appearance. The interior was also completely renewed with sturdy foam. The ottoman was then reupholstered with a high-quality wool fabric in a rich yellow shade, which contrasts beautifully with the warm teak.
What stands out immediately is the simplicity and refinement of the design. The low, organic design seamlessly complements the armchairs from the Ruster series and emphasizes Yngve Ekström's calm, balanced design language.
The footstool not only offers comfortable support for the legs but, above all, enhances the sense of relaxation evoked by the armchair. Together, they form a harmonious whole in which comfort and design are perfectly balanced. A rare and essential part of an iconic Scandinavian set, ready for a new life. Can optionally be upholstered in a different fabric.
