Beautiful vintage armchair model ‘Ruster’, designed by Yngve Ekström and produced by the Swedish company Swedese. In the Netherlands, this model was imported by Pastoe, which included the armchair in its own collection. In the catalogues from the 1960s, it appeared under model number ‘FT08’.
This gentleman's armchair originates from Soest and was originally purchased in the 1960s as a complete set, together with a ladies' model Ruster and a matching footstool. It is precisely that footstool that makes the set so special: these are rarely offered for sale nowadays.
Upon arrival at our workshop, the armchair was fully restored. The teak frame was carefully cleaned and re-nourished, allowing the warm, deep colour and beautiful grain to come fully into their own again. The internal structure was also completely overhauled: new springs, webbing, and foam. Finally, the armchair was reupholstered with a high-quality wool fabric in a rich yellow shade, a colour that contrasts beautifully with the dark teak.
What stands out immediately are the refined lines of the design. The armrests flow seamlessly into the legs, giving the armchair an elegant and luxurious appearance. The subtle curves soften the design and ensure that the chair, despite its generous dimensions, looks light and airy.
In terms of comfort, the Ruster is also among the absolute best. The high backrest offers excellent support for the back, shoulders, and neck, inviting you to lean back and relax. This is not an armchair in which you sit alone; it is an armchair in which you disappear. Whether with a book, a newspaper, or a good glass of wine at the end of the day, the Ruster is designed to truly find ‘rest’.
Price excludes footstool.
