This set is signed Cloda Mano, the exclusive and sought-after pseudonym created by the renowned master ceramist Gabriel Fourmaintraux to showcase his finest crackle-glazed earthenware creations at the Desvres factory (information can be found on the museum's website; see last photos).
The clean, geometric lines of these pigeons, combined with the superb white glaze, with its bluish and red hues and fine crackle finish, perfectly embody the modernist and animal-inspired style of the 1930s.
