The Danish designer and interior architect is considered one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. He transferred the psychedelic aesthetics of Pop Art to the field of interior design. Panton was one of the first designers to make innovative use of materials such as plastic, foam and rubber.
Nevertheless, the innovator's designs went out of fashion as early as the 1970s. Then, in the mid-nineties, triggered by a Vogue cover with Kate Moss sitting on a Panton chair, the artist's revival began. Spiegel, for example, had the "Snackbar" designed by Panton in 1969 reinstalled in the new publishing house built in Hamburg's Hafencity in 2011.
Verner Panton died in Copenhagen in 1998.
