Pair of solid brass candlesticks produced in Sweden in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the Zoégas coffee house (1886–1976). These promotional items were created in a minimalist style typical of 1970s Scandinavian design, with a geometric construction composed of stacked cylindrical volumes.
Each candlestick consists of a solid cylindrical base extended by a central stem and a cup to hold the candle. The entire piece is turned from brass and presents a simple and functional aesthetic, characteristic of Nordic modernism of this period.
The base is engraved with "Zoégas Kaffe 1886–1976" as well as the brand logo. These candlesticks belong to a series produced in three different sizes, forming a complete set. Complete sets are now sought after by collectors of vintage Scandinavian design.
Zoégas Kaffe is a coffee roastery founded in 1886 in Helsingborg, Sweden. In 1976, to celebrate its centenary, the brand released several promotional items in solid brass, including these candlesticks. Their minimalist aesthetic reflects the Scandinavian design tradition of the 1960s and 70s, characterized by simple geometric shapes and the use of fine materials such as brass.
