Product description
This unique composition, imagined by Les Simonnet, dates from 1996. Produced on Plexiglas, the two paintings are set in painted wooden frames. The abstract forms are repeated in negative from one painting to the next, while the choice of blue and orange frames contributes to a harmonious balance of color. This work perfectly reflects the essence of Simonnet's art, which brilliantly marries geometry and organic forms, continuing the biomorphic explorations initiated by Arp in the 1930s. Both works are in excellent condition, signed and dated on verso.
Jean Marie (1920-2008) and Martha Simonnet (1925-2012) were French sculptors and painters renowned for their fusion of classical techniques and avant-garde concepts, and for their innovative use of plastic as their principal material. Inspired by surrealism and existentialist philosophy, their works explored themes of human connection and identity, leaving a lasting imprint on the art world through their emotional resonance.
