Product description
Rare pair of Cow Horn chairs, produced by Mahjongg Vlaardingen in the Netherlands during the 1960s.
These chairs immediately stand out for their sculptural teak frames. The beautifully shaped armrests extend outwards to create the characteristic “cow horn” silhouette, while the curved backrest and tapered legs give the design a distinctly organic mid-century appearance.
The warm teak contrasts beautifully with the light upholstery, making them easy to combine with both vintage and contemporary interiors. Their strong proportions also make them suitable as dining chairs, desk chairs or standalone accent chairs.
Both chairs still retain their original Mahjongg Vlaardingen Holland manufacturer’s label underneath, confirming their origin.
This particular Cow Horn design is attributed in the vintage furniture market to both Arne Vodder and Johannes Andersen. As definitive period documentation of the designer has not been established, we prefer to list them under their confirmed manufacturer, Mahjongg Vlaardingen.
The chairs are in good vintage condition, showing normal signs of age and use consistent with their approximately 60-year history. Please see the photographs for a detailed impression of the condition.
