Exceptional pair of calamine table lamps on a wooden base. They represent two allegorical figures, two women holding a torch above their heads. The frosted glass torch is the lampshade of these majestic lamps. Frosted glass is conventional glass that has undergone a grinding process, which makes it opaque, maintaining its original properties. Both sit on a wooden base with a circular section.
The female figures are represented with grace and refinement. Dressed in the classic way, the memory of the “wet cloth” technique stands out as the clothing seems to adhere to the body, creating delicate folds, full of movement and realism. The posture is known as contrapposto, supporting the weight of the body on a single leg and leaving the remaining one slightly bent, which provides some movement and contributes to breaking the frontality. They have their hair tied up in an elaborate hairstyle that lets some ringlets fall. on the back, from which small wings grow.
Some of the tulips are missing / an arm and a hand have been restored (as shown in the images)
