An exquisite pair of blown glass candle holders, made by the renowned German firm Rosenthal in the 2000s. This model, designed by Bjönn Wiinblad, is called “Tulip.”
The “Tulip” blown glass candle holder is one of Björn Wiinblad’s most recognizable and iconic designs, originally created for the Rosenthal Studio Line in 1958. Made of hand-blown glass, it is characterized by a solid, heavy base from which a stylized stem rises, culminating in a cup with undulating edges that emulates the petals of a tulip, in smoky gray tones. It appears in different versions with varying heights. The model is still manufactured today using a more modern technique that offers a more uniform finish, but with less artisanal craftsmanship.
Rosenthal is a German company from the Selb region of Bavaria. It was founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal. Originally, it began as a decorative porcelain workshop, but it quickly evolved into one of the world's most prestigious porcelain brands. The company is known for its innovative approach and collaborations with renowned artists and designers, such as Walter Gropius, Salvador Dalí, and Cuno Fischer, among others.
