A splendid pair of mid-20th-century oil paintings on canvas, crafted with refined technical mastery in the Neoclassical/Rococo style. The works depict classic "gallant scenes":
Outdoor Scene: A noble couple relaxing in a hammock in a monumental garden (signed M. Paulis).
Indoor Scene: A lady at her dressing table assisted by her maid, with exceptional rendering of the fabrics and the sheen of the silk.
The paintings are characterized by natural craquelure, attesting to their age and originality. They are presented in imposing contemporary frames in wood and gilded stucco, with a deep, richly worked profile that lends a strong decorative impact.
