Pair of DAX (Dining Height Armchair X-Base) chairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames, produced by Herman Miller/Vitra in the 1960s-1970s.
The two shells are made of genuine molded fiberglass in the original Light Ochre color, a shade now sought after by modernist furniture enthusiasts. They rest on their original X-Base bases and retain all of their original components.
The markings present place this production among the first European editions:
• Thermoformed V under the seat.
Shock mounts marked with an "H".
Original shells, fixings, and bases.
The chairs have not undergone any major restoration or replacement of parts. They are in excellent condition with an authentic patina acquired over the decades. Signs of wear, light marks, and micro-scratches are consistent with their age and attest to their authenticity.
This pair makes a beautiful addition to a modernist interior, a 20th-century design collection, or a design project seeking iconic Eames pieces.
