Rare pair of iconic H269 lounge chairs, designed by the renowned Czech designer Jindřich Halabala in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s. The H269 is one of Halabala’s most recognizable designs, distinguished by its sculptural bentwood frames, flowing armrests and elegant, dynamic proportions characteristic of Czechoslovak modernist design of the period. The wooden frames have been professionally restored. The wood was carefully cleaned and finished with a high-quality wood oil, enhancing the natural grain, depth of color and character of the material. The original upholstery has been preserved. It shows natural signs of age and use consistent with the period. The internal construction and original spring system remain in very good condition. The chairs can be used in their present authentic vintage condition or reupholstered in a fabric of the buyer’s choice. Professional reupholstery can also be arranged upon request. A beautiful and increasingly difficult-to-find pair of original H269 lounge chairs, combining Halabala’s distinctive sculptural form with the elegance of 1930s Czechoslovak design.
