This striking pair of bedside tables was produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1940s, capturing the refined elegance of the late Art Deco period. The design is characterized by its square proportions, gently curved corners, and clean, flowing lines — hallmarks of the era’s transition toward modernism. Finished with the original black glass panel to finish of the elegance of the piece.
Each table features a compartment with a hinged door, offering practical storage with a shelf inside while maintaining a sleek silhouette. The original resin and chrome handles add a subtle unique touch, beautifully complimenting the rich wood-effect finish.
The surfaces are finished using the traditional faux wood graining technique (also known as wood graining), a hand-painted decorative process popular at the time. This technique was employed both for its cost-effectiveness and for its ability to imitate rare or exotic wood species — and here, it has been beautifully preserved, enhancing the tables’ historical and artistic value.
Presented in original vintage condition, the pair shows minor signs of age consistent with careful use, as documented in the photographs. These only add to their authentic patina and charm. A rare and characterful set, ideal for design lovers drawn to early 20th-century Central European craftsmanship.
