An elegant pair of miniature female portraits, oil on canvas, dating from around 1900-1908, during the Belle Époque, and approximately 120 years old. The original backings with handwritten ink inscriptions are preserved on the reverse of both works. These inscriptions appear to include a reference to Paris and the dates 1900 and 1908, providing interesting insight into their history. The figures reflect the idealized image of the Andalusian woman, which achieved extraordinary popularity in the Parisian art world of the Belle Époque, within the phenomenon known as Espagnolisme. Dimensions: • Frame: 13.5 × 13.5 cm. • Visible area of the painting: approximately 6 × 6 cm. Condition: Very good condition for works approximately 120 years old. The works retain their original frames and backings, including the handwritten inscriptions on the reverse. • The paintings show slight surface wear and the natural aging typical of their age. • The frames retain their firm structure and original patina, showing only minor signs of use consistent with their age. • One of the frames is missing its hanging ring, as visible in the photographs.
