Exceptional set of two antique English armchairs, presumably from the late Victorian period, circa 1870–1900.
The armchairs feature a fine dark wooden frame, presumably mahogany, with characteristic large curved armrests and graceful scroll ornaments. The turned and carved front legs are fitted with classic metal casters. The high tufted back and elegant proportions give the chairs a stately English appearance.
The wood has a beautiful patina and shows signs of use and some old repairs appropriate for its age. The light blue moiré silk striped upholstery is of a later date (late 1970s) and shows signs of wear, particularly on the armrests. For a perfect result, the armchairs can be reupholstered, allowing them to be perfectly adapted to a modern or classic interior.
Precisely because they are a matching pair, these armchairs are particularly decorative as a set in a living room, library, study, or by a fireplace.
Exact provenance and dating are not documented. Condition: good and solid considering its age, with signs of wear on the wood and upholstery.
