Oval marble dining table by Italian architect and designer Angelo Mangiarotti, Italy, 1970s.
The table combines a generously proportioned oval golden brown onyx marble table top with a single sculptural copper coloured cast-iron pedestal. The natural stone displays expressive natural veining in warm brown, amber, and cream tones which is characteristic for golden brown onyx marble, creating a richly varied surface that changes across the tabletop.
The central pedestal has a distinctive scalloped construction. Its vertical fluting gradually expands towards the floor, creating a stable base with a strong architectural presence. A warm copper-toned patina highlights the individual ridges and provides a refined contrast with the natural character of the onyx marble.
The relatively slender tabletop appears to float above the substantial pedestal. This contrast between the broad horizontal surface and the concentrated central support gives the table a balanced silhouette while leaving generous legroom around all sides.
This incredible table will ensure being an eyecatcher in any dining area, adding warmth and a luxurious feeling to any interior.
