For the true connoisseur of timeless design: a stunning, original Thonet dining set from 1987. This set combines the iconic craftsmanship of bentwood with an extremely practical design and is in beautiful vintage condition.
THE CHAIRS:
The set contains 6 original Thonet chairs of Model 19, also known as the 'English Chair' or 'Angel Back' due to the elegantly shaped arches in the backrest.
Features: Made of deep dark brown stained beech wood.
Seat: Fitted with classic, hand-woven Viennese cane (webbing). The weaving is in very good and sturdy condition.
Authenticity: Features the original branding stamp "THONET 87" and the authentic paper Thonet label (see photos).
THE TABLE: Compact & Extendable.
The matching oval dining table is ideal for both daily use and larger gatherings thanks to the clever, built-in butterfly system. In an instant, you slide out the table and the 50 cm extension folds up from the center.
Dimensions folded (slim oval): 94 cm x 135 cm.
Dimensions unfolded: 94 cm x 185 cm (perfectly spacious for the 6 chairs).
Unique Extra OPTION: 2x Authentic Thonet Bar Stools Model 204.
Complete your interior! Optionally, two beautiful, authentic Thonet bar stools (Model 204) are available with this set. These stools match the rest of the set seamlessly in terms of wood color and weave and are ideal for a kitchen island or bar.
Condition of the set:
The set is structurally in excellent and very sturdy condition. The tabletop has a small, superficial scratch and the table legs show some light signs of use/bare spots. This can easily be restored to like-new condition with a touch-up pen or a small lick of paint/gel stain, but it is also part of the vintage character of this design classic.
This dining table set comes from a carefully curated private Thonet collection that is seeking a new home due to a move to an assisted living apartment.
All items in the collection feature the original Thonet labels.
