This original String shelving unit is one of the most iconic pieces of furniture in Scandinavian design history, designed by Nisse Strinning. The delicate black metal ladder and black wooden shelves give the piece a clean, graphic look on the wall. The black finish makes the shelving unit somewhat more serious and angular than the classic wooden version – it fits well in modern spaces but also works perfectly in a classically furnished home.
Thanks to its flexible ladder system, the shelving unit adapts to your needs – all shelves and modules can be freely adjusted in height and rearranged. This particular unit is fully and versatilely equipped: there are closed compartments for items you'd rather keep out of sight, open shelves for books, ceramics, or plants, a glass-fronted display case with sliding glass doors for your favorite items, and even a fold-out writing surface that transforms the shelving unit into a small workspace when needed. A dedicated metal magazine rack is also included for those who want to keep their magazines within easy reach.
There are some minor signs of wear consistent with its age. There is a small dent on the flap of the writing compartment.
