Robert Sonneman: Robert Sonneman is an iconic figure in contemporary lighting design, known for his visionary approach and innovations since the late 1960s. In 1967, he founded his first company, quickly propelling SONNEMAN – A Way of Light to the forefront of the lighting industry. This company continues to explore the technical and formal possibilities of light, earning him numerous awards and international acclaim, with works exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston. Sonneman's commitment to modern ideals and his desire to merge technology, functionality, and art have led him to work with materials such as chrome, stainless steel, and glass. His designs are characterized by clean lines and innovative approaches, becoming classics of the modern era. Sonneman draws inspiration from modern architecture and applies the functionalist principles of the Bauhaus. In the 1960s, he introduced a modernist aesthetic to lighting design, revolutionizing the industry by innovatively combining form and function. This approach gave rise to the contemporary and dramatic designs that define Sonneman.
