Jacques "JackedUp" Sparrow;
Meet Jacques, an artist whose journey unfolds against the backdrop of Amsterdam’s vibrant 90s, an era steeped in both allure and challenges. Shaped by a city full of life, Jacques developed a layered relationship with the Triple X: deeply connected and yet very critical of it.
In the pursuit of connection beyond the conventional, Jacques ambitiously created an award-winning social-app. However, despite its accolades, financial constraints led him back to the drawing board… Literally. Art became his way of dealing with an urban environment.
Part of his portfolio serves as a portrayal of Amsterdam; a city with more than just the stereotypical image of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll. It’s a visual exploration of pressure, responsibility, love, desire and the messy overlap between being human and humanity. His practice leans into spontaneity, figures emerge, unravel, or glitch out entirely. They don’t follow a rigid narrative, but instead suggest fragments: tension between control and collapse, body and object, beauty and discomfort. Some find vibrancy in desolation, while others grapple with the monotony of grey-white masses and latch on to all sorts of addictions and habits.
Perhaps you’ve encountered some of his concepts via one of his collabs or just adorning the streets of Amsterdam, left as a heartfelt tribute to his beloved city. Beyond the canals and cobblestones, Jacques’ art has also found new homes all across Europe and the U.S.A.
Jacques invites you to see the world through the eyes of a Sparrow; fragile but fierce, always adapting.
P.S. Jacques does NOT have any social media pages. His only online presence is through this official website.
