Antique Anglo-Indian pen box with hidden drawer, made of hardwood and brass, featuring a central blank brass cartouche, circa first half of the 20th century.
This beautiful box is of high quality; it is difficult to say exactly what type of wood it is, but it is a tropical hardwood. The brass has been polished, and the old patina has been preserved.
Similar types of boxes of various shapes were often used in the Anglo-Indian Company to store medical instruments, for example; the style is consistent with the more well-known company chests and furniture.
This object is in good antique condition, showing signs of age and use appropriate for its age. Check the photos for more details!
