The Historic House De Beuckelaer (located on the Minderbroedersrui in Antwerp) is a work of art connected to the well-known Antwerp industrial family F.X. De Beuckelaer (known for Elixir d'Anvers) and the painter/etcher Constant Cap (C. Cap, 1842–1915). The depiction of “Old Antwerp” and the advertisement for Ed. De Beuckelaer strongly align with the nostalgic Antwerp cityscapes that were popular during the interwar period.
The printing technique and color tone are typical of early 20th-century color reproductions/chromolithographs.
The dark sculpted frame is also typical of that period.
Constant Cap worked primarily in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The frame style and discoloration indicate that it is an older reproduction (first half of the 20th century, for example), which is decoratively very interesting.
