This brass bull and chariot from the first half of the 20th century is a unique and rare example of traditional Sumatran metalwork. The object is entirely handmade, a quality evident in the many small details: the hammered texture of the brass, the shape of the animal, the slender wheels, and the decoratively carved chariot hood. Two similar examples are known to exist in museum collections, highlighting the rarity and uniqueness of these brass figurines. Two small wear holes are visible on the back of the chariot.
