A beautiful Pastoe sideboard designed by Cees Braakman in 1952. Cees Braakman designed this sideboard in the Oak series and its model name is DE02. This furniture series was intended to mark the transition from the heavy oak furniture of the pre-war era to the new post-war modern era, entirely in line with the "good living" philosophy. He drew inspiration from American design. The use of plywood for the dust-resistant drawers, in particular, was far ahead of its time in Europe. The minimalist design with its nod to the past is a beautiful reflection of the times. The sideboard is 190cm wide, 48.5cm deep, and 86.5cm high.
Condition: The sideboard has been fully restored and refinished and is therefore in good vintage condition.
This exquisite Oak DE02 sideboard, designed by Cees Braakman for Pastoe in 1952, embodies the elegance and functionality of Mid-Century Modern design.
