Scandinavian oak bookcase from the 1960s, featuring a modular and rational design with a freestanding base including drawers.
Oak bookcase designed by Marian Grabinski in the 1960s, a significant example of Scandinavian functionalist design. The composition features an upper section with open compartments and organizational modules, paired with a freestanding lower unit fitted with two drawers, measuring 40 cm in height and usable independently. The reduced depth of the bookcase alone, 28 cm, highlights the project’s rational and architectural intent. Swedish production ensures high construction quality and careful attention to proportions and details. Grabinski, a Polish designer active in the post-war Scandinavian context, developed a restrained and rigorous design language where modularity, formal clarity, and function coexist in balance.
