Number 5 from a series of 7 unique tables with the same theme
Wood, matt epoxy, blackened iron legs, red copper wire 75 × 45 × 21 cm stamped and signed by the artist at the bottom This unique handmade artwork or usable design object will likely lead a nomadic existence in your living room or serve for your drinks or watch movies on your i-pad. You can use it anywhere you need it, or just to carry snacks and peanuts near the sofa once you are seated. Dutch designer Melchior van Dansik always is inspired by nature. In this case the magnificent extraterrestrial phenomenon above the polar circle. The top image tries to catch an impression, each of the 3 tables in this series has a different image. The coloration continues on the side of the table to add a bit more of the atmospheric impression to it. See the other ads e,g. for the other two available items. THE STORY OF NDEBELE TABLES
Elegant, amazingly strong and stable. Image of an African woman. Everyone has seen a tripoid table. It is the simplest way to make a structure that does not wobble. Perfectly simple, not so easily improved. Van Dansik focused on one essential detail: the place where the three rods meet. By extruding the shape and joining the legs together by winding metal wire around them, a new stunningly smart and functional design was created. When van Dansik saw this elegant long ringed "neck" appear in the silhouette of his table, it immediately reminded him of the decorated necks of the Ndebele women in South Africa. The iconic Ndebele table is so light that you can pick it up by the neck and carry it in one hand. Yet it is surprisingly strong and can carry objects up to 5 kilograms.
