Product description
This table lamp was produced by Itre Murano in Venice during the 1980s, an Italian glassworks known for sculptural lighting designs in blown Murano glass. The piece combines two clearly distinct glass elements: a tapered, transparent cone base that supports a large frosted sphere in pale, satin-finished glass, with a small clear glass point rising from the top of the globe. The contrast between the clear cone and the opaque sphere gives the lamp a strong graphic silhouette, closer to a sculptural object than to a conventional lamp base. The manufacturer's mark, "Itre made in Italy Murano Venezia," appears on the lower cone alongside a signature, confirming its origin. A lamp of this scale works well on a console, sideboard, or nightstand, and its geometric form suits interiors that pair Postmodern or Memphis-influenced accents with more traditional Murano glass pieces. Itre was active in Murano through the later twentieth century, producing lighting that moved away from historic Venetian forms toward abstract, minimal shapes, and this globe-and-cone composition is representative of that design language.
