Designed by Simon Fussell for Kartell in the 1970s, this modular chest of drawers reflects a functional approach to domestic furniture through the clean, disciplined language that characterises the Italian company's research into plastic as a design material. The structure is composed of a sequence of stacked volumes, each module contributing to a compact, balanced composition with carefully considered proportions.
The integrated handles create a continuous horizontal gesture that subtly defines the drawer fronts, while the castors reinforce the cabinet's mobility, allowing it to be easily repositioned and adapted to different interiors. Its ivory finish softens the strict geometry of the design, making it equally suited to contemporary spaces and vintage-inspired settings.
Still remarkably current today, this piece exemplifies Kartell's ability to elevate plastic into an elegant, durable and highly functional material, resulting in a design that has lost none of its relevance over time.
